What is a virtual visit?

Virtual visit is remote meeting with your healthcare provider or health care team. This mostly refers to the term “Telehealth” which means your healthcare provider or health care team provides you care without an in-person visit. The Health Resources Services Administration defines telehealth as “The use of electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support long-distance clinical health care, patient and professional health-related education, public health and health administration.”  Technologies used in telehealth include videoconferencing, the internet, store-and-forward imaging, streaming media, and wireless communications.

Is my medical data safe? 

We are in compliance with "The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 or HIPAA, that created a federal law and standard for protecting your personal information. HIPAA rules keep your paper and digital medical histories private, including what you share during telehealth visits".

     

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions and frequency of visits mostly depend on your nutritional goal(s), nutritional concerns and your progress. This is something that will be discussed and planned in your initial visit accordingly. 

 

Will my insurance cover my sessions?

Most insurances cover Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT).Please review your benefits since some insurances may require patients to pay a small co-pay. If your insurance company is not listed among the insurances that Sunny Nutrition Counseling is in-network with, we provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Please keep that in mind that reimbursement depends on your specific out-of-network benefits on your policy. In case your insurance does not cover MNT, there are other ways like our out of pocket prices and package deals to help you get the treatment you desire at an affordable rate. Can I use my HSA/FSA to pay for services? 

Yes, this practice accepts Health Savings Accounts and FSA.
